Raves!

I am claiming and remembering my power. I am remembering to listen for my inner guidance. I am remembering the language of my heart. I have ALL the power within me NOW. I remember I am the ONE I had been waiting for. I carry this message with me every day! — Meghan Dwyer, Raw Food Chef ~ Sedona
It was like the dam broke, and everything came out to be healed. I felt totally revealed and safe in the nurturing space you created. We went so deep, and yet it was so easy. Thank you. — Shela Tarwater, Paralegal ~ Florida
I have a totally new understanding of who I am. I HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE MY LIFE, and the knowledge that I am supported by love to make these changes! I am ready to move forward from a trust in my own light and power. — Roko Ona, M.D. ~ Tokyo
I was guided towards profound insights that have shifted both my understanding of myself and my way of being on this planet. — Justin Caruso, Yoga Teacher ~ NYC
Samantha Sweetwater

Samantha started channeling dances about war, peace, relationship and spiritual states beyond name or form at the age of 13.  She has been a dance priestess ever since, traversing the realms of professional dance and choreography, contact improvisation, site-specific improvisation, capoeira, dance fitness, yoga teaching and training, massage therapy, events production and embodied community development.

She is the founder of Dancing FreedomKick Ass With Grace Coaching and PeaceBody Japan. Her work synergizes mindfulness centered in the body, shamanism, soul alchemy, community practice, and an integral vision for evolutionary enlightenment into functional experiences that support individual and planetary wholeness. Her transformational offerings create a safe space to open the heart, express the soul, and to reconnect with the self-generating capacity to experience sufficiency and wholeness. She serves through authenticity, integral perspective, rigorous honesty, divine play, and presence. Samantha holds an MA in Wisdom Spirituality, a self-created degree in Social Theory and The Dance (from UCSC with Honors), is a certified yoga instructor, somatics practitioner, massage therapist, Dream Coach, Reiki Master, and an ordained priestess.

In her early teens, Samantha found dance as a life-saving passion. In it, she discovered a home for expression, integrationand healing. All the parts of her that did not “fit in” suddenly had a voice and a home.  Whole dances started flowing. She began choreographing epic pieces about war and peace, unspeakable spiritual states, and the meaning of relationship. At 16, she found her second great passion, “Eastern Religions”, and began practicing yoga – a way of seeing and being that influenced all of her art and has infused every aspect of her life. After college, she became a successful independent choreographer, director, dancer, yoga teacher and community organizer in San Francisco. She founded and directed the performance group THICKET, co-founded The Body Cartography Project with Olive Beringa, Tom Sepe and Tracy Vogel, was a co-founder of C.E.L.L. Space, and a regular organizer for the West Coast Contact Improvisation Festival. Between 1995 and 2002, she danced with Scott Wells, Kim Epiphano, Anne Bluthenthal, Robert Moses & Kin, and others. She taught yoga in an emerging world… a world before Yoga Works and Yoga Tree, before the industry really understood itself. She sees conscious dance now at this same pregnant moment in its evolution.

Over the years, her two greatest teachers have been chronic pain and acute injury and nature.  These two “friends” have taught her great humility, compassion and listening both for herself and for others.

She experiences dance as a mirror for life – a gateway for individuals to experience themselves in the universal journey of embodiment.  This is the insight behind the practice of Dancing Freedom (and the Contact Improvisation based form called Dharma Dance), which she has been sharing for over 15 years. She has taught on five continents (still moving towards Antarctica and Africa). She has led classes, workshops and retreats in such venues as EsalenKalani Retreat CenterHarbin Hot Springs and Grace Cathedral, at events such as BioneersHUB’s “Actioning Your Brilliance,” Earth DanceHarmony Fest and the Economics of Peace Conference, and with health experts David Wolfe and Gabriel Cousens. She is also the developer and director of PeaceBody, Japan.

She is currently developing curriculum for Social Permaculture, Sacred Activism and Regenerative Culture in partnership with Generation Waking Up. These formats bring Dancing Freedom techniques into leadership training and self development contexts to more fully anchor the learning in the body and soul. She enjoys a dedicated Soul Coaching practice, working with individuals to activate fulfilling and soulful lives in service to the greater whole. Additionally, she is working towards a Doctor of Ministry degree with Wisdom University.
