‘Through dancing, we come to know where we finish and where others begin. When we deepen our connection to ourselves, others and the world around us, we become refined our understanding of the places where we overlap, becoming more responsible in our choices‘
– Caitlin (Teacher Trainer)
Dancing Freedom Facilitator
To be fully certified as a Dancing Freedom Facilitator and receive your graduation certificate, you must complete the required* 4 steps: Training, Practicum, Self Evaluation and Completion Coaching Session.
Our training is a 22 day long immersion format. It is open to all people, but it is specifically designed for people with an existing dance, yoga, fitness, somatics, coaching, counseling or embodied education background. Once you complete your training, you will be approved to teach as a Dancing Freedom™ Facilitator-In-Training. You can begin teaching classes and workshops immediately as a teacher-in-training.
2. Practicum (student teaching)
Upon completion of your training, it is time to do your practicum (as Dancing Freedom™ Facilitator-In-Training). This is the BIG JUMP. Only you can take this leap of faith to put YOURSELF OUT THERE into “real life” school. Student teaching is a practice of learning by doing. And, we fully believe in your ability to use your training (and your unique gifts!) to be a successful teacher of this work. Each student is required to teach a five class practicum in his or her community. We recommend teaching the Fundamentals Series: Self-Love, Soul Expression, Into-Me-See & Sacred Community, but you are welcome to teach what you like. You can offer these classes as a series or as one-off events or workshops. These classes can be offered for free or for a fee (again, this is up to your discretion). You can offer them to your friends or to the public, or both. We recommend requesting feedback. Teaching is an initiation that YOU must do for yourself.
(Mentoring – Peer to Peer)
While it is not required, we have seen over time that every person needs support and reflection during this process in unique ways. We strongly encourage you to create a small mentoring circle within your training group to support you and your circle as you move forward in your teaching practice. This is somewhat optional, but highly encouraged.
3. Self Evaluation
After you complete your practicum, complete this two page self-evaluation form and return it to Samantha or one of your other lead trainers. Then, schedule your final evaluation session with this trainer. Please be concise yet considered in your responses.
4. Completion Coaching Session
The Final Evaluation is a 75 minute session with Lydia or one of the other lead trainers. It is an opportunity for you to get feedback, to ask questions, and to receive focused coaching support for your unique teaching vision. You will have questions, challenges and realizations that are particular to you. We are here to support you in this. So, please consider before the call how you want to use your time. There is also a pass-fail dimension to this final session. We assess whether you are bringing the work forward with integrity and clarity.
If we feel you need to improve specific aspects of your communication or presentation, we will ask you at this time to work on these things, then schedule a second coaching call at an agreed upon date. After we have completed your final session, we send you your Certificate of Graduation.
